The Legends from Europe campaign is a collaboration between four independently operating European consorzi.
The Consorzio Tutela Grana Padano brings together 211 companies, producers, seasoners and retailers to ensure that the traditional and exacting production standards for Grana Padano are maintained through strict inspections and tests, and that the cheese’s quality is guaranteed. The Consorzio also protects Grana Padano against imitation and fraud, assuring consumers they’re buying an authentic PDO product.
The Consorzio of Prosciutto di Parma was established in 1963, on the initiative of producers seeking to safeguard the product and image represented by the name 'Parma'. The Consorzio rigorously adheres to the traditional production methods for Prosciutto di Parma and rejects everything that does not meet the highest quality standard. This quest for perfection was acknowledged by the EU in 1996 when Parma Ham became one of the first meat products to be awarded the Designation of Protected Origin status.
Established in 1984, the Consorzio per la Tutela del Formaggio Montasio works to ensure today's Montasio is the same product that was first developed centuries ago by cheese makers in the Friuli, and eastern Veneto regions. Under the Consortzio’s watchful eye, Montasio is produced according to well-defined traditional criteria, subject to stringent quality controls and branded to guarantee its origin and compliance with all required characteristics.
For more than 25 years, the Consorzio del Prosciutto di San Daniele has worked to protect, promote, optimize and look after the general interests of Protected Denomination of Origin Prosciutto di San Daniele. It preserves production rules and regulations, implements initiatives for improving product quality and safeguards the unique characteristics of the product. The Consorzio also promotes and publicizes (in Italy and abroad) the recognition and distribution of San Daniele, ensuring the international registration of the Prosciutto di San Daniele trademark.
